Jesse Zroback
Jesse Zroback, M.D., CCFP, B.Eng. is a co-founder of Leap Biosystems, specializing in Rural/Remote Medicine and Engineering.
Dr. Zroback has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a Doctorate in Medicine from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and Family Medicine residency training at Queen's University. He is Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine at the University of British Colombia.
His medical career includes rural and remote medical services in family and emergency medicine for communities in Northern Canada. He also has completed ship and expedition medical tenures, including ventures through the Northwest Passage, in Atlantic Canada, and in Antarctica. Dr. Zroback enjoys the unique challenges and experiences of working in resource-limited settings.
His home base is in Kenora, Ontario, where he enjoys hiking, camping, surfing, and exploring the many lakes in Northern Ontario.
Dr. Zroback was one of the final 17 candidates in the 2016-2017 Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Recruitment Campaign, a process that started with 3772 applicants for 2 astronaut positions that were filled in the summer of 2017.
